Velvet Line Advances Private Voice and Video Messages

The optional Android R206 update adds authenticated first-frame previews for recorded video in private conversations; phone testing is still required.

Communication with a clearer identity

Velvet Line is the Android phone client in the Line/Direct communications family. Velvet Direct remains the iPhone/PWA counterpart. The family is focusing on native phone calls, Walkie, live video communication and private recorded voice and video messages while carrier text-message expansion is deferred.

Show the video, not an empty tile

The October 14 R206 signed optional Android beta adds a poster made from an actual early frame of a recorded video, with a Play control and duration. It is designed to replace a generic blank video placeholder in the real native conversation. The preview endpoint checks the authenticated sender or recipient, accepted contact relationship, access restrictions and message expiration.

Private-media boundaries remain

Recorded media stays tied to the authorized conversation and existing expiration rules. Release tests included denial cases for guests and unrelated or blocked accounts; these synthetic checks do not amount to physical-device acceptance. The GGIRL App Store remains the official place for choosing an optional update.

Next proof

R206 is published as a development beta and its package integrity and build checks passed. The exact update still needs installation and first-frame, playback, Bluetooth, notification, Android–iPhone and phone-call testing on real devices before general communications release claims.

Current status. Optional Android development beta published; exact signed-in handset and cross-device validation pending.
