Three spaces, private at the start
From the October 1 verified update, new Velvet Room accounts begin with Social, Friends and Work set to Private. People may choose to make a mode public; it is not the default.
Sharing and access are separate
Owners can still post to the Public Feed. Other members can see permitted profile previews and request to follow, but a pending follow request does not automatically open the full private Room.
Privacy is an ongoing responsibility
These controls establish the intended default and follow-request boundaries. They are not an absolute guarantee of security, anonymity or complete enforcement across every possible app surface. Continued testing and moderation remain necessary.
Current status. Private-by-default account behavior publicly claimable at the verified October 1 checkpoint. Velvet Room continues in public development access, not full launch certification.
